Cork Airport continues to record significant passenger growth with further impressive monthly figures released today.

The month of May saw 276,139 passengers using the airport, an 11.9% increase on the same month last year.

So far this year, 1,136,621 passengers have used Cork Airport.

Last Sunday, June 11, was the airport’s busiest day in its history, with 14,633 passengers choosing to travel through Cork Airport.

Cork Airport management expect 1,225,000 passengers to travel through the airport this summer. This is an increase of 10% on last year’s record summer season.

Aer Lingus recently announced three new services from Cork Airport to start this autumn — Lanzarote, Madrid and Prague — in addition to increased capacity on other routes.

The Cork/Prague and Cork/Madrid routes will operate three times weekly, while the new Cork/Lanzarote service will operate twice weekly. These three new routes will commence on October 29.

These will compliment existing Aer Lingus services to Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Faro, London, Malaga, Nice, Paris, Rome, and Warsaw. This brings to 16 the total number of destinations served directly from Cork Airport by Ireland’s flagship carrier.

Aer Arann has added Nantes and Lorient to its French destinations, in addition to its Belfast, Bristol, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Jersey, Newquay and Southampton routes.
