This afternoon’s meeting at Kelso has been given the green light after passing a 7.30am inspection.

After plenty of rain in the area during the week, the meeting had been placed in some doubt.

However, a dry night was enjoyed by the Borders track and racing will go ahead, albeit on very testing ground.

“It’s good news, we’ve had a dry night,” said clerk of the course Anthea Morshead.

“We’ve got a nice frosty morning here at the minute and racing goes ahead.

“It’s dry and bright at the moment but the forecast is for isolated showers.

“The going is heavy.”
