Michael Phelps has won his third gold medal as the USA won the men's 4x200m freestyle relay final in dramatic circumstances tonight.
Klete Keller held off Australia's Ian Thorpe in the tightest of finishes in a race that will live long in the memory.
Earlier Phelps fine first leg put the US in control, but the Australians kept plugging at the USA lead and almost snatched victory through Thorpe.
