GAA president Sean McCague and director general Liam Mulvihill will chair a special meeting in Croke Park today to decide on the fate of the hurling All-Stars trip to Argentina.

The GAA is worried about security following riots in the South American country in response to mounting poverty and unemployment.

The Irish Embassy in Buenos Aires has offered safety assurances, but the GAA is still undecided on whether to press ahead with the holiday.

The All-Stars are due to leave Dublin for Argentina on January 23.
