Forest fires have enshrouded Brazil’s capital, Brasilia, in smoke.
The capital’s Civil Defence agency says about 250 firefighters battled blazes in at least three different areas around the city.
The flames do not threaten residential areas.
The region around Brasilia has been suffering from a long drought.
There has been no rain in at least three months, and humidity has dropped to the teens. Such conditions dry out vegetation and make it easier for fires to spread.
Reports in O Globo newspaper said some schools called off classes because of the haze, but no flights were cancelled at Brasilia’s airport.
