Israeli TV stations today reported that Ariel Sharon’s emergency surgery ended after more than three hours, but hospital officials said the prime minister was still in the operating room.

After the surgery, Sharon is to undergo a brain scan, the TV reports and hospital officials said.

Sharon suffered a massive stroke on Wednesday, and today’s surgery was the second in two days.

He was rushed into the operating room earlier today after doctors detected increased cranial pressure and rising blood pressure.
