All services on Eurotunnel were suspended today after police caught a man running on the track, a spokesman for the company said.

Kent Police were called at 3.55am to reports of a man in the track area at the Channel Tunnel terminal at Folkestone.

Police and Eurotunnel staff found the man near the entrance to the tunnel at 6.20am and he was arrested for trespassing.

He was taken into custody while police carried out an extensive three hour search of the area. No one else was found.

Eurotunnel said they were forced to cut off the power while the police carried out their search, leading to severe delays.
