A run in the Vodafone Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood next month is one possibility for Ouija Board as she recovers from yesterday’s exertions at Royal Ascot at York.
The dual Classic winner only beat one home in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes after losing a shoe and finding herself ill at ease on the loose ground.
The daughter of Cape Cross is reported to have come out of the race “OK”, although she is being treated for a quarter-crack.
“I think realistically we will have to forget about yesterday,” trainer Ed Dunlop told BBC Sport.
“She seems OK at home. A possible next target is the Nassau Stakes, but we’ll do some work on the quarter-crack and take it from there.
“We use a plastic product to seal it. It’s quite a common injury and can cause problems. I think Footstepsinthesand has got one at the moment.
“She’s not sore on it now. She’s got a shoe on as we speak. Hopefully, we’ll get away with it.
“It’s a crack that comes from the pastern down to the base of the foot. Rather than a crack that’s going uphill, it’s going down. So until the hoof grows out it’s going to be there.
“There isn’t really a time-span. It depends on the individual. Some have reaction to it, some don’t.
“She was lame before the race and we tried to treat it. Now we haven’t got the pressure of trying to get her to a race in a short amount of time.
“Hopefully, we can take our time and sort it out. Goodwood is not for a long time.”
