Camogie President Liz Howard has thanked the GAA and its members for allowing the Gala All-Ireland junior camogie championship final to take place at Croke Park on the same bill as the All-Ireland Under-21 hurling and senior camogie deciders on Sunday, September 9.
"I am delighted to see that we have the Gala All-Ireland junior camogie championship final back at Croke Park. We have had great reaction from the four remaining semi-finalists Antrim, Derry, Clare and Waterford," said Howard.
This decision was reached after members of the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) recommended to proceed with a triple-header, with the decision rubber-stamped by the GAA's Central Council at the weekend.
Last season's Gala All-Ireland junior final took place at O'Connor Park in Tullamore with Dublin successful, but there had been some disquiet at the move away from Croke Park.
However, Camogie President Howard is delighted that the GAA are able to accommodate a triple-header.
"Last year there was disappointment that the final wasn't at Croke Park but I believe that at the same time we must always be prepared to try new things and I think that is important.
"Last year we had the opportunity of twinning the All-Ireland Under-21 hurling and senior camogie finals and sometimes you have to try something different," she said.
The Tipperary native praised all those involved for allowing for the return of the junior final to GAA headquarters.
"Since last year's All-Ireland final we have lobbied the GAA and we are delighted that this was passed by Nickey Brennan and the management committee on Friday night and then sanctioned by Ard Chomhairle on Saturday."
