New Norwich striker Dean Ashton has no doubts the time is right for him to make his move to the big time.
The England Under-21 international has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at Carrow Road, with a further 12-month option, after joining from Crewe in a £3m (€4.3m) deal.
Ashton had netted 20 goals for the Railwaymen this season, making him the Coca-Cola Championship’s leading scorer, and the 21-year-old is in no doubt he can cut it in the top flight.
“I feel as if I have proven I can score in the Championship and if there is ever a time I am ready, then it is now,” he declared when officially unveiled at this morning’s Carrow Road press conference after completing the formalities of his transfer last night.
“Crewe recommended Norwich as a really well-run club and when I came down to speak to Nigel [Worthington] and he showed me around, I could see that, and that they had a lot of ambition.”
