The GAA Senior Hurling Championship will have a new structure next year, after delegates at this morning's Special Congress voted in favour of the proposals.

The unanimous decision to have a new Hurling Championship structure for 2010 was taken at Citywest Hotel, but only after an amendment by the Leinster Council.

It is the seventh change to the Hurling Championship in the last 12 years.

This means that Christy Ring Cup winners Carlow will compete in a 13-team Liam MacCarthy Cup next year.
