A UK department store is bringing in size 14 mannequins alongside its usual size 10s, it announced today.
John Lewis will introduce the larger models as a trial in one store.
It follows the retailer’s decision to use curvy size 12 model Lauren Moller in publicity photos for its 2007 swimwear collection.
A “limited number” of size 14 mannequins will appear in its Peterborough store from the end of this month for a trial period.
John Lewis PR manager Mark Forsyth said: “We’re going to trial them to see how our customers respond to them and how they work in the visual landscape.”
The chain has no plans to phase out its existing size 10 mannequins.
John Lewis previously said 80% of its own-brand swimwear sales were in sizes 12 and above.
