Robert Pattinson has become a huge heartthrob since taking on the role of vampire Edward Cullen in the movie franchise 'Twilight' but insists girls aren’t interested in him as a person.
The 23-year-old star said: "Girls scream out for Edward, not Robert. I still can't get a date."
Although he is struggling to find a girlfriend, Robert – who is constantly linked to his ‘Twilight’ co-star Kristen Stewart – admits he’s not short of female attention.
He told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper: "I was having lunch down the road the other day. We were in this place for a couple of hours and suddenly there was like 400 people outside on the street. It was just so nuts and it's like that all the time now."
However, he is hoping the attention will calm down when the latest movie, ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’, in the vampire franchise is released because he doesn’t have such a big role in it.
He said: "I'm not the lead in the second film. Taylor Lautner is. I appear in Bella's dreams. So I'm in it but the focus is not on me.
"So I'm more of a supporting role in this one, which is why I felt so free.”
