US man buys €130,000 bottle of bubbly
A US man has purchased a bottle of champagne for €130,000.
Don Johnson, a professional gambler and businessman, is thought to have broken the world record for the most expensive bottle of champagne ever bought in a London club when he paid for the item in Park Lane's OneForOne nightclub.
He amassed a bill of more than €187,000, including the 45kg bottle, which contained 30 litres of bubbly.
Nik Krasniqi, floor manager at the €1,000-a-year members club, said: "Everyone was gathered round his table and he was on the microphone singing Bon Jovi songs, screaming 'I love London'.
"He was hugging the bottle and everyone in the club was going wild. When he left, the ceiling, the floor and everyone in the club was covered in champagne.
"His goal is to be the biggest spender ever in nightclubs all over the world. He is in Vegas and he wanted to do it in London."
