Sean O’Connor scored an early goal of the season contender to make it a St. Patrick’s day all round at Belfield to put John McDonnell’s Inchicoremen top of the Premier Division table for tonight at least.
The 22-year-old winger's wonder goal came on 62 minutes when he worked the ball in from the left and let fly with a stunning right-foot drive from over 25 yards that flew into the top corner of Darren Quigley’s net for a terrific winner.
It was no more than Saints deserved as they had missed four good chances in a one-sided first half as an out-of-sorts UCD had to settle for a second successive defeat.
