The Greek left-wing leader Alexis Tsipras has said a deal
been brokered for a new government, but it will not involve his Syriza party. He said the framework for a two-year interim coalition had been secured, but said he would not support it due to its commitment to a "criminal" EU-IMF loan deal.
It is understood that conservatives New Democracy, the socialist Pasok Party and the pro-bailout Democratic Left could all be part of the government.
Earlier, the Socialist leader Evangelos Venizelos said talks between the country's top three political heads and the Greek president had come to a "dead end".
