Kind-hearted pop star Shaira is donating $40m (€28m) to help rebuild areas in the Americas hit by recent natural disasters.

Kind-hearted pop star Shaira is donating $40m (€28m) to help rebuild areas in the Americas hit by recent natural disasters.

The Columbian singer will donate the money from the foundation Latin America for Solidarity Foundation (ALAS) - which she co-founded with Nobel Prize winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

The money will go to repair damages caused by an earthquake in Peru and a hurricane in Nicaragua.

She says: "I've seen first-hand many of the challenges facing Latin America. These are challenging problems that no one person can address, but working together everyone can help make a difference."

The pop beauty also revealed the foundation will plough $5m (€3.5m) into a three-year commitment project for children in the two regions.
