Two bombs exploded near a five-star hotel in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, overnight, blowing out windows and damaging an American Airlines office in its lobby.
The bombs exploded in a park about 60ft in front of the Hilton Colon, police said.
A little-known group, the Revolutionary Militias of the People, claimed responsibility for the bombs and left leaflets at the site rejecting austerity measures announced by President Lucio Gutierrez, police said.
