Radiohead are to release a new album 'The King Of Limbs' by the end of the week - and are again bypassing major labels.

The hugely successful band will issue their eighth studio album on Saturday as a download from their website.

They had a long association with EMI’s Parlophone label but opted to go it alone for 2007 album 'In Rainbows'.

However, they will also issue a CD and vinyl version a few weeks later through independent label XL, as they did with their last release.

The quintet made an unheralded announcement today via their website to say 'The King Of Limbs' was imminent.

Fans were told about the album with a posting which simply said “thank you for waiting”.

As well as the download version, fans can also order a lavishly packaged set including 10-inch clear vinyl version plus a CD copy.

XL will release the CD and 12-inch vinyl copy on March 28.

Nigel Godrich, who has worked with the band from 1997’s 'OK Computer' onwards, is once again the producer. Each of the band’s albums on which he has worked has topped the UK charts.
