Scotland flanker Jason White has been ruled out of this season’s RBS 6 Nations after breaking his leg.

The 31-year-old fractured the tibia and fibula in his left leg while training with his club Clermont Auvergne yesterday, and underwent surgery today.

White, who has won 77 caps for his country, came off the bench in all three of Scotland’s autumn internationals and was almost certain to have been included in coach Andy Robinson’s squad.

The injury is expected to keep the former national captain out for three months.
