A conservation institute in the US has produced wildcat kittens by cross-breeding cloned adults.

A conservation institute in the US has produced wildcat kittens by cross-breeding cloned adults.

It said this was the first time that clones of a wild species have bred.

Eight kittens have been born in two litters, and all are apparently doing well.

Researchers said the development held enormous potential for preserving a range of endangered species.
