O'Neill fit for Tyrone NFL semi-final

Tyrone boss Mickey Harte has received a boost after star forward Stephen O'Neill declared himself available for Sunday's National Football League semi-final against Wexford at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise.

Tyrone boss Mickey Harte has received a boost after star forward Stephen O'Neill declared himself available for Sunday's National Football League semi-final against Wexford at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise.

The ace attacker, who missed Tyrone's league defeat to Kerry with a hamstring injury, limped off while playing for his club at the weekend, but his injury is not as bad as first feared.

O'Neill was in Dublin yesterday to collect his Vodafone Player of the Month award for March.

Harte received a further boost with the news that skipper Brian Dooher will be back in action after missing the last two clashes with flu, while Ciaran Gourley's one-month suspension is up, paving the way for the defender's return.

However, talismanic sharpshooter Peter Canavan has suffered an injury setback ahead of the Ulster championship.

The Errigal Ciaran man was due to line out for his club at the weekend, but cried off because of a hamstring injury.

Canavan withdrew from the Red Hand panel before the league because he was unhappy with his fitness levels, but stated he was keen to return in time for the Ulster championship.
