Ayr racecourse have moved to quash any suggestion that this evenings card could fall foul of the weather.

Plenty of rain in Scotland has seen the track inundated with requests from prospective racegoers as to whether the meeting was in doubt, but Ayr spokesman Ian Ferguson said: “We have escaped most of the rain and the meeting is in absolutely no danger.

“We’ve had five millimetres of rain this morning but it has stopped now and we expect no more.”
