Carragher shrugs off El Hadji Diouf ‘turkey’ insult

Former Liverpool and Celtic player El Hadji Diouf has attacked Jamie Carragher in an interview with a French magazine, but is out of luck if he hoped the comments would upset his former teammate.

Diouf told French Magazine So Foot that he ‘hates’ the Liverpool player turned pundit.

“The person I would least want to spend Christmas with is Jamie Carragher,” Diouf said. “I hate him.

“He was the biggest turkey I’ve seen on a pitch. I found him useless.”

Someone helpfully tweeted Carragher to tell him about the remarks, in case he had missed it.

The Anfield stalwart laughed off the comments, replying, “It's better than a Donkey & plenty have called me that before.”

The former Senegal footballer international also took the opportunity to have yet another pop at Steven Gerrard, with whom he has crossed swords several times since leaving Liverpool.

"He didn’t care about Liverpool winning – all that mattered for him was getting on the scoresheet,” Diouf said, before going on to describe Bolton boss Neil Lennon as a “d***head”.

Charming.

Somehow we don’t think Gerrard or Lennon will be losing any sleep over the remarks either.
