Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given has been taken to hospital after being hurt in his side’s 2-0 win at West Ham.
The Republic of Ireland international suffered abdominal pains following a collision with Hammers substitute Marlon Harewood.
An ambulance was called to Upton Park and it was decided that Given would not fly back to the north-east with his team-mates but instead stay in the capital overnight for treatment.
A Newcastle spokesman said: “He has got abdominal pains and is going to hospital to be checked out.”
