Wenger won't risk Pires

Arsene Wenger is not expected to risk Robert Pires in Arsenal’s Premiership showdown at Everton tomorrow.

Arsene Wenger is not expected to risk Robert Pires in Arsenal’s Premiership showdown at Everton tomorrow.

The French winger made his comeback after seven months out with a cruciate knee ligament injury in a specially-arranged friendly against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday.

Pires played for the full 90 minutes but Wenger is unlikely to gamble on him at Goodison Park.

Ray Parlour (knee and hamstring) and Martin Keown (hamstring) are both still sidelined, but Dennis Bergkamp should return after his Achilles problem.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, out for eight months with his cruciate knee ligament injury, is due back in the first team within three weeks.

Wenger is sure to keep faith with David Seaman, whose latest England blooper gifted Macedonia a draw on Wednesday night.

PROVISIONAL SQUAD: Seaman, Taylor, Shaaban, Luzhny, Lauren, Cole, Campbell, Cygan, Vieira, Edu, Gilberto, Ljungberg, Wiltord, Toure, Pennant, Henry, Bergkamp, Kanu, Jeffers.
