Gerhard Berger will get behind the wheel of a Formula One car again to officially lap the new Shanghai circuit for the first time.
The Austrian won 10 grands prix during a long career in Formula One, which saw him start 210 races for the likes of Ferrari, McLaren and Benetton before retiring in 1997.
Berger was more recently involved in Formula One as BMW’s engine chief but he will dust off his driving gloves one last time on Sunday when he takes part in an opening ceremony at the new Shanghai track.
Berger, 44, will take last season’s championship-winning Ferrari round the track, which is to host the inaugural Chinese Grand Prix in September.
Ferrari managing director Jean Todt will also be present at the ceremony.
