Funeral services for Mormon church president Gordon B. Hinckley this week could draw tens of thousands of mourners with the church estimating that between 50,000 and 160,000 will attend two days of public viewing and Saturday’s funeral.

Funeral services for Mormon church president Gordon B. Hinckley this week could draw tens of thousands of mourners with the church estimating that between 50,000 and 160,000 will attend two days of public viewing and Saturday’s funeral.

Mr Hinckley’s death at 97 came with membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the highest in its history, with 13 million followers worldwide who consider the head of the church a prophet.

As with the twice-yearly church meetings, Mr Hinckley’s funeral will be broadcast in 69 languages to 6,000 Mormon buildings worldwide.
