Six oil workers were kidnapped from a petroleum installation today in Nigeria’s lawless southern crude oil-pumping region, news reports said.

Six oil workers were kidnapped from a petroleum installation today in Nigeria’s lawless southern crude oil-pumping region, news reports said.

The latest abduction to hit Africa’s oil giant took place in southern Bayelsa state, said Joshua Benemesia, a leader of an unarmed, government-funded group that helps provide security in the state.

The men were believed to be working for a Nigerian oil-services company.
