Taylor not moving to Wearside, says Redknapp

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has denied that Matt Taylor is set to join fellow Premier League side Sunderland in January.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has denied that Matt Taylor is set to join fellow Premier League side Sunderland in January.

Taylor's heroics last season saw him linked with an England call-up, but he has started only two Premier League games this term.

The 25-year-old midfielder's frustration fuelled reports that he is being lined up for a move to Sunderland, but Redknapp insists he is not for sale.

"I have not heard a thing from (Sunderland manager) Roy Keane about Matt Taylor. I spoke to Roy only last Friday," Redknapp told The News.

"He rang up to ask me about Newcastle before they played them. Matt Taylor was never, ever discussed.

"He has not played a lot lately but Niko Kranjcar has been playing well. He's not the only one who has been missing out."
