Supermarket franchise SuperValu today opened its latest Irish store in a move which the company said takes its investment in the country to €25m in 2011 alone.
The new store in Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre will employ 70 people and follows openings in Mountmellick, Athy, Manorhamilton and Fermoy this year with a total of 400 jobs created, the company said.
"Dun Laoghaire, like towns throughout the country, has been hit hard by the recession," said Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore who performed the opening today.
"However I believe the opening of this store is a very positive sign that the local business community is fighting back and I warmly welcome that.”
