West Wind ready to storm Curragh

Alex Pantall believes West Wind is up to the task of taking on older horses in the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

Alex Pantall believes West Wind is up to the task of taking on older horses in the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

The French Oaks winner, owned by Sheikh Mohammed, was supplemented for the Group One contest over a mile and a quarter, in which she will be taking on older fillies and mares for the first time.

“She is very well for the moment and in good form. I hope she is still improving. She will make the journey over to Ireland tomorrow,” said the French trainer.

Johnny Murtagh takes the mount as Frankie Dettori will be serving a two-day ban that also rules him out of the Budweiser Irish Derby, in which he would have ridden Sheikh Mohammed’s Boscobel.

“I think Johnny Murtagh is a very good jockey,” added Pantall.
