Francois Clerc scored the only goal in the 98th minute as Nice earned a tie against amateur side Drancy.
Elsewhere, Ligue 1 sides were made to work hard as their lower-league opposition emerged with great credit.
Paris St Germain were 3-2 winners at Agen. Mathieu Bodmer’s goal was cancelled out before half-time by Daffe but two goals in the first five minutes of the second period by Peguy Luyindula and Guillaume Hoarau saw the capital side through.
Vanderschick grabbed a consolation for Agen but PSG progressed to face Martigues.
