Eve Johnson Houghton will prepare The Cheka for another top-level assault in the Emirates Champion Stakes at Newmarket on October 16.
The lightly-raced four-year-old has performed with credit against some of the best milers around this season.
He was not disgraced behind Paco Boy on his first two outings and then finished fourth in the Diomed Stakes at Epsom.
His latest run in a French Group Three heat initially seemed disappointing but with the winner, Joanna, subsequently running so well in the Prix Maurice de Gheest, Johnson Houghton has been given renewed hope.
“He’s having a break and hopefully he’ll come back for the Champion Stakes. He seems to run best when he is fresh so we’ll try that,” said Johnson Houghton.
