Fleeting camp in high spirits

Jeremy Noseda expects Fleeting Spirit to have made breathless progress since Royal Ascot when she bids for back-to-back wins in the July Cup.

Jeremy Noseda expects Fleeting Spirit to have made breathless progress since Royal Ascot when she bids for back-to-back wins in the July Cup.

The five-year-old mare will arrive at Newmarket next Friday suitably buoyed by a fine fourth in the Golden Jubilee Stakes.

Although she is again likely to go head to head with Starspangledbanner, her Royal Ascot nemesis, Noseda remains in high spirits.

He said: “I was delighted with her run at Ascot. She will improve from a fitness point of view and was not drawn where the race was run.

“Touch-wood if all goes to plan I think she will improve by five to seven pounds, which would see her be competitive.”

Laddies Poker Two, Noseda’s Wokingham Stakes winner, also holds an entry in the Group One sprint, but her participation is unlikely.

The Shalfleet handler told www.jeremynoseda.com: “Laddies Poker Two is a possible rather than anything else.

“She will be ready to run, but she runs in the same ownership as Starspangledbanner so we’ll have to see.”
