Charity concert Live Aid II is being planned for this summer in order to tie in with the G8 Summit.
Organisers are working against the clock to stage the star-studded music event alongside the political summit in Scotland, and are inviting Bob Geldof to help.
But even the determined Irish rocker, who put together the first Live Aid concert in 1985, is doubtful they will be able to organise the extravaganza in time for July.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun: "He thinks it's a great idea but knows it is a race against time to get everything organised - and there's a chance it won't happen.
"Bob would want it to be really special if it goes ahead. It is touch and go with plans.
"It is no coincidence to try and time the concert around the G8 summit where world leaders have the chance to help fight poverty."
