Celtic Warriors 29 Borders 24
Celtic Warriors completed a Celtic League double over the Borders at Bridgend despite a tremendous second half comeback by the Scottish side.
An entertaining game was marred by a serious injury to Cameron Murray which forced a 12-minute second half delay.
The first half was the Neil Jenkins show as the former Wales and Lions outside-half kicked four penalties and converted a lovely try he scored himself after taking an inside pass from Dafydd James.
All the Borders could manage in reply was a solitary penalty by centre Gareth Morton which made it 19-3 to the Warriors at half-time.
The scene seemed set for a repeat of the 49-10 victory by the Warriors at Netherdale in the opening game of the League as a brilliant counter-attack brought a try for Richard Mustoe converted by Jenkins.
But the Borders came back strongly and Craig Donlea crossed from a rolling maul and Morton supported a superb run by Samoan fly-half Tanner Vili for another.
Vili converted both to make it 26-17.
The Samoan pivot was having a huge influence on the second half and a lovely chip and chase saw him lay on a third try for Tony Walker.
Replacement Calum Macrae converted but the revival was dampened when Jenkins kicked his fifth penalty to seal victory with his 28th successful kick in succession which is another record for the great kicker.
