Former Dublin and Roscommon boss Tommy Carr has ruled himself out of contention for the Westmeath managergial position, vacated by Paidi O'Se last weekend.
Carr, a Mullingar native, was immediately linked with the Lake County post, but has insisted he has little interest.
Speaking about the speculation, Carr admitted: "I've heard absolutely nothing, but I am not interested really. It’s a tough world out there in management. Everyone is expecting to win All-Irelands now."
Meanwhile, Westmeath county chairman Seamus Whelan has poured cold water over suggestions that the county board had a falling out with O'Se over the team's preparations for the All-Ireland qualifiers.
"There was no suggestion that he, or anyone, eased off once we were beaten by Kildare in the Leinster championship," conceded Whelan.
"The simple fact is that we were plagued by injuries and a number of our younger players need more time to make the step-up."
