Geldof to write Dictionary of Man

Rock campaigner Bob Geldof is planning to record "every trace of society" for a 21st century version of the Domesday Book.

Rock campaigner Bob Geldof is planning to record "every trace of society" for a 21st century version of the Domesday Book.

The former Boomtown Rats frontman says he has been planning a Dictionary Of Man for 20 years and finally took a step closer to realising his dream at the launch in Cannes, France, yesterday.

Geldof says: "This will be a giant mapping of ourselves. Ultimately, I suppose in some ways we're also building the world's family photo album.

"This will be an A to Z of Mankind, which will catalogue the world we live in now, the people who share this planet, the way we live and the way we adapt to face common and different challenges. Mankind is the world's most extraordinary animal."

Geldof will spend three years on the project, with the help of award-winning producer/director John Maguire.
