The wife of former Enron chief Ken Lay is opening a second-hand shop selling family furniture and other personal items, it emerged today.
Linda Lay, who told in January how she and her husband were ‘‘fighting for liquidity,’’ will launch the store in Houston, Texas, later this month.
‘‘She determined that some of these furnishings were just stuff and could be sold. Families and friends agreed,’’ said family spokeswoman Kelly Kimberly.
She added that Mrs Lay, who was formerly employed by her husband at Enron, had ‘‘worked all her life’’.
Lay and her daughter, Robin, will also sell items belonging to friends and some new merchandise and design services at the shop, to be named Jus’ Stuff.
A lamp fashioned from antique street lights, a mahogany bed and a bright yellow pair of metal fighting cocks are among the wares to be up for sale.
The Lays have sold off several second homes and commercial properties since Enron descended into bankruptcy last year.
