Pearl sidesteps Trial date

Connections of Lightening Pearl have decided to bypass Sunday’s Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial Stakes.

The Marju filly won three times as a juvenile, claiming the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes on her final start in 2011.

Trainer Ger Lyons had entered her for Sunday’s Group Three event over seven furlongs at Leopardstown but he feels his stable star is not quite ready to run yet.

Lyons tweeted: “It’s decision time for LP today & we have decided not to run on Sun. She’s getting there slowly but not ready for a gruelling race yet.”
