New Zealand's Prime Minister has ordered an investigation into why so many buildings collapsed during the Christchurch earthquake.

New Zealand's Prime Minister has ordered an investigation into why so many buildings collapsed during the Christchurch earthquake.

Two buildings, which were completely destroyed in the earthquake, were checked for structural damage after the city's first tremor last September.

"We need to go back and make sure that those checks were done appropriately. We don't know what's gone wrong with those buildings," he said.
