One person was killed and 21 others injured when a rollercoaster hit a guard-rail at an amusement park in western Japan today, officials and a media report said.
A woman died in the accident at Expoland in Osaka, according to local police official Kaoru Tanaka. He said it was not immediately clear how seriously hurt the other 21 people were.
Kyodo News agency reported at least two people with serious injuries.
Expoland was closed following the incident, according to park official Kazuhiro Shiba, adding that officials were investigating.
Mr Shiba said the rollercoaster had a capacity to hold 24 passengers and could travel at up to 47mph.
The incident came amid Japan’s “Golden Week” holiday.
Osaka is 255 miles west of Tokyo.
