Eric Alston hopes Reverence will be able to take his chance in the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp next month after breaking a blood vessel at York.
The six-year-old sprinter trailed in last of 16 behind Kingsgate Native when bidding for back-to-back victories in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York last month.
“He seems great at home. He’s bucking and kicking and is cantering,” the Preston trainer told Racing UK.
“We are going to scope him next week and if he’s OK, hopefully we’ll go to Paris with him. He’s in great order and was before York. Hopefully he won’t bleed again.”
After winning the Nunthorpe last season, Reverence landed the Betfred Sprint Cup before finishing second in the Abbaye.
