An immigration officer in the UK got so sick of his wife he banned her from the country for three years.

The unnamed man added his spouse to the register of people not allowed in Britain so she could not get home from Pakistan, where she was visiting family.

When officials told the woman she could not board her flight home she called her husband, who promised to help her, but then left her stuck abroad as he had "the time of his life".

He was fired when bosses noticed her name on the list and questioned him about it - forcing him to confess what he had done.

An immigration source said: "A lot of people may dislike their other halves but to do this takes it to the next level."
