James McCartan has been reappointed as Down senior football manager for 2013.

James McCartan has been reappointed as Down senior football manager for 2013.

The announcement was made ahead of the first Down Senior Football Club Championship semi-final between Kilcoo and Bryansford at Pairc Esler tonight. .

It will be the two-time All-Star's fifth campaign in charge of the county, having brought them to the All-Ireland final in his second year in charge in 2010.

McCartan's selectors for next season have yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Gerard McGrattan has been appointed as the Down minor hurling manager.

The Portaferry native won three Ulster SHC titles as a player with Down between 1992 and 1997.
