The Israeli cabinet is to meet in an emergency session following the assassination of the country’s tourism minister, Rehavam Zeevi.
The hardline minister died in a Jerusalem hospital.
He was shot just hours before his resignation was meant to come into force.
A radical Palestinian group is claiming responsibility for the attack.
