Irish actor Cillian Murphy has been nominated for a Golden Globe award.
The Cork-born actor received the nomination for his part in Neil Jordan’s upcoming film Breakfast On Pluto.
Kate Beckinsale and Mark Wahlberg announced the nominees in a ceremony in L.A today.
Murphy’s first film role was in Kirsten Sheridan’s Disco Pigs. Since then he has appeared in blockbusters such as Cold Mountain, Batman Begins and Red Eye.
The winners of the prestigious Golden Globe awards will be announced on 16 January.
Other nominees include Matt Dillon for Crash, George Clooney for Syriana, Scarlett Johansson for Match Point and Shirley MacLaine for In Her Shoes.
Anthony Hopkins will receive the lifetime achievement award for acting.
