Zimbabwean police have arrested the country's correspondent for The Guardian newspaper.

US-born Andrew Meldrum was taken in for questioning the day after police arrested two other journalists on charges they published false information.

Allegations against 51-year-old Mr Meldrum are not immediately clear.

He has been repeatedly named by the government in its attacks on British media coverage of the nation's two-year political and economic crisis.

Mr Meldrum is the seventh independent journalist arrested under sweeping Access to Information laws enforced since March 22.
