With seven out of eight fastest stage times, it was a day of almost total domination for Andrew Nesbitt and co-driver, James O’Brien (Subaru WRC) at the end of the first leg of the Ordnance Survey Ireland Rally of the Lakes in Killarney.
They have a 42 second advantage over the Toyota Corolla WRC of Eugene Donnelly/Paul Kiely.
Derek McGarrity/Dermot O’Gorman (Subaru WRC) hold third at the overnight halt.
Nesbitt’s only concern was about the clutch of his ADL backed Subaru which was slipping ever so slightly. The Armagh driver wanted to protect the clutch and rather than risk a change, took it easy at the stage starts.
